Queen Angelfish

Holacanthus ciliaris

The Queen Angelfish is arguably the most striking of all angelfish species with vivid blue and yellow markings, an electric blue body, and a distinctive crown-like marking on the forehead. It grows quite large up to 18 inches and requires substantial swimming space in an aquarium of 250 gallons or more. Not reef-safe as it grazes on many corals including soft and stony varieties, anemones, and clam mantles. Can be aggressive toward tankmates and needs careful selection of robust, semi-aggressive companions. Omnivorous, accepting marine angel preparations, frozen foods, and vegetable matter.
